New Era of Cooperation in Healthcare sector begins under China Pakistan Health Corridor
At the occasion of 11th Annual International Public Health Conference on Contemporary medicines, Health Technologies and Vaccines for Emerging Public Health Risks organized by the Health Services Academy(HSA) Islamabad held here, Vice Chancellor of HSA Prof. Shahzad Ali Khan signed an MoU with Chairman of China Pakistan Health Corridor Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz (CPHC) for joining CPHC. Wuhan University announced at the occasion the intent of cooperation with HSA in teaching, student exchange, and joint research, which will be based on a joint health research center that will be explored in the future, under the umbrella of the China Pakistan Health Corridor. It is worth mentioning here that the WHO Traditional Medicine Foundation General Secretary Mr. Pan Wen signed an other MoU and sought the opportunities of collaboration with HSA in Traditional & alternative medicine Cooperation as well. Digital Human also sought cooperation for establishment of first ever Digital Medicine Lab in Pakistan.
“China Pakistan Health Corridor” or “Silk Road Health Corridor” is state of the art initiative by the China Pakistan Medical Association launched in December 2017. With its headquarter in Jinan China, the Health Corridor initiative is multidisciplinary interconnected group of centers consisting of medical universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical, traditional medicine academies, Research & Training centers, in countries along Belt & Road linked together by Telemedicine, Artificial intelligence, VR/AR and Big data. China Pakistan Health Corridor is an integral part of The Health corridor and a number of cooperations have been established between China & Pakistani Universities, hospitals and medical institutes.Mr. Pan Wen, General Secretary, WHO Traditional Medicine Foundation, highlighted that Chinese traditional medicine, was a standout, in the face of the new Delta variant outbreak, and had played a unique leading role in displaying unique charm of traditional medicine.
“In the future, traditional medicine will combine inheritance, innovation and development, actively explore and research, and face the post-epidemic era together. At the same time, in the future of major global outbreaks, the traditional medicine prevention, disposal and solutions will make outstanding contributions to human health. I am looking forward for more collaborations between China & Pakistan in health care sector. WHO Traditional medicine Foundation along with China Pakistan Medical Association will continue to promote these cooperation’s.”
Maintaining that the COVID-19 pandemic has showed that solidarity is of most importance, Prof. Li Hao from School of Public Health Wuhan University underlined that the people of the two countries have closely worked together to help each other to fight the virus. Now Pakistan has the capacity to enable local production of vaccines, which benefit the whole South Asia region. He further said that, “there are still much research to be done to facilitate the understanding of the two health systems, the way for more efficient cooperation in health industry between the participation of all stakeholders from two countries.”
