CPMA to promote China Pakistan Cooperation in Traditional Medicine

On the afternoon of April 3, 2023, Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, President of China-Pakistan Medical Association, and Prof. Zhang Xianbin, Vice President of China-Pakistan Medical Association, led the delegation to visit the hospital, accompanied by TCM affiliated hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and had a meeting with the leaders and heads of relevant functional departments.

The hospital leaders warmly welcomed the arrival of Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz & CPMA team, introduced the basic situation of the hospital and shared the relevant experience in the construction of acupuncture hospital and the development of the characteristics of Chinese medicine. President Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz introduced the China-Pakistan Medical Association and the China Pakistan Health Corridor projects. He also emphasized the need for frequent meetings between the Chinese and Pakistani medical institutes to promote exchanges in research, training and establishment of multidisciplinary link.

Subsequently, the two sides had detailed discussion on strengthening academic and cultural exchanges of TCM, medical personnel training, TCM education and training, and TCM theory and research technology innovation.

President Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz expressed the hope that through this communication, Upholding the principles of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, and using acupuncture as a bridge, we will strive to promote medical exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, help build a health corridor, provide better medical services for the Pakistani people, and create a new model of China-Pakistan people-to-people bond.

“Traditional Chinese medicine is gradually warming up in Pakistan, which has promoted the mutual learning and complementarity between Chinese and Western medicine, and also brought diversified and effective medical treatment options for local patients. The people of Pakistan are more and more interested in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and there is a lot of room for cooperation in the future.” Said President Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz.

After the meeting, the delegation of China-Pakistan Medical Association visited the different departments of hospital including acupuncture rehabilitation clinic and acupuncture training base.

China and Pakistan are traditional friendly neighbors, and 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. This exchange aims to give full play to the unique advantages of Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion, actively promote the participation of Chinese medicine in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and promote the internationalization of Chinese medicine.
